Dear Mr. Denton:
Enclosed herewith are five (5) copies of Applicant's Physical Security Plan for the Protection of Special Nuclear Material of Low Strategic Significance.
This plan describes the physical protection system that shall, prior to the implementation of 73.55 Security requirements, be established and maintained for the protection of Special Nuclear Material in the form of unirradiated fuel rod assemblies.
As this information is proprietary in nature, the Company re-quests, pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790 and 9.5, that the information be accorded proprietary status and not placed in the Public Document Room.
Please note that our attached return receipt letter requests that you acknowledge receipt of the enclosed controlled documents.

R. McCaffrey, bcing duly sworn states that he is Manager, Project Engineering, with the Long Island Lighting Company; that he is authorized on the part of said Company to sign and file with the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission the foregoing Physical Security Plan for the Protecticn of Special Nuclear Material of Low Strategic Significance, dated August 3, 1981 for the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station Unit 1, Docket No. 50-322; the Plan was prepared under his supervision and direction; and that the statements contained therein are true and correct to the best of his knowledge, information and belief and applying to the NRC to have the Plan withheld from public disclosure.
Under 10 CFR S 2.790 (d) the Plan contains "commelc2.al or financial informatior;" because it identifies detailed security measures for thc physical protection of the Shoreham plant in which licensed special nuclear material will be pos-sessed and used.
Therefore, the Company requests, pursuant to 10 CFR S 2.790 (b) and 9.5 (a) (4) (i), that the Plan be withheld from public disclosure.
