Catawba Nuclear Station, Unit 2 Docket No. 50-414

Dear Sir:

On May 17, 1985, Duke Power Company (Duke) submitted Revision 3 to the License Application for the Catawba Nuclear Station.

It was noted therein that the accelerated target schedule for completion of Catawba Unit 2 was January, 1986.

As a result of two bearing failures experienced on diesel generator 2B (PNO-II-85-ll5), the expected completion date has been delayed.

It is now expected that the remaining construction and testing activities will be complete and the unit ready for fuel loading on February 26, 1986.

We will continue to appraise the NRC's Catawba Project Manager of any changes in this schedule.

Very truly yours, b

Hal B.
