Exercise Report for the July 10, 1985, Exercise of the Offsite Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP)

Plans for the Brunswick Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP)

Attached is one copy of the Exercise Peport for the July 10, 1985, partial participation joint exercise of the offsite REP plans for the BNPP. W e DNPP is located near the City of Southport in Brunswick County approximately 16 miles south of the City of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Brunswick and New Hanover Counties, all located in the 10-mile plume emergency planning zone, fully participated in the exercise.

%e exercise report was prepared by Region IV of the Federal Energency Management Agency (FEMA). Were was one NUREU-0654/FENA-REP-1, Rev.1 deficiency observed during the exercise that requires a schedule of corrective actions. 21s deficiency, which is typically classified as a Category B deficiency, can be corrected through trainirg and additional resources. His deficiency did not detract fran the overall capability demonstrated by the State of North Carolina and Brunswick and New Hanover Counties to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency. Werefore, the 44 CFR 350 approval granted on March 17,1982, will renain in effect.

FENA lbgion IV staff will furnish a ccpy of this exercise report to the State of North Carolina and will obtain a schedule of corrective actions. We Region will assure co@letion by the State of the necessary corrective actions.
