1he following report highlights the operating experience of Wlf Creek Generating Station for the month of August,1985. This report is being prwided pursuant to Technical Specification 6.9.1.8.
I.
StBeURY OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE During the nonth of August, inplementation of the Power AH:ension Testing Progran was ocupleted. A Large Ioad Reduction Test fran 1004 Reactor power was completed successfully irithout a Reactor trip. The Nuclear Steen Supply System's perfonnance run at 1004 power was ocapleted on August 28, and the unit was then tripped from 1004 power, thus ocupleting the final test of the Power Ascension Testing Program. Preparations are in progress to declare the unit ready for J
oausercial operation.
II.
MMOR SAFETY RELATED MAINFERENCE ACTIVITIES The major safety-related maintenance activities during the month of August include the rebuild of Centrifugal Oiarging Puup "A" to replace a damaged shaft, repair of a pin hole leak in the flange material of an RED bypass flow orifice manifold, repl = = ant of unqualified terminal blocks on the Main Peedwater Isolation Valves and the Main Steamline Isolation Valves, and change out of the position indicator swit&es on the pressurizer safety valves.
III. CHANGES, TESTS, Att EXPERIMENIS 1he following is a brief description of safety evaluations perfoomed pursuant to 10 CPR 50.59 on danges, tests, and experiments during the month of August.
1.
L,urary' Modification 85-SE-79'- Installation of s temporary plywood door to support Qcary duct work in the devcay to the ElectrrHfydraulic Oontrol Cabinet room in the Tt.trbine Building.
The plywood will be fire-retardant and the appropriate fire watches will be established. No unreviewed safety or emirorunental questions are generated as a result of this tauporary dange.
2.
Temporary Modification 85-SE Relocation of the weather radio in the Control Roaa to the west wall to facilitate radio.
reception until an outside antenna for the radio is installed and connected. No unreviewed safety or ewirorunental questions are generated as a result of this te ary dange.
c 3.
L urk m y Modification 85-SE Installation of a three-quarter ind carbon steel 30004 socket welded union in a drain line fran IM-V-052, Stean Generator Blowdown Flash Tank relief valve. No unreviewed safety or envirorumental questions are generated as a result of this temporary d ange.
4.
L.guc= y Modification 85-SB Installation of scaffolding in the Auxiliary Buildirg to facilitate cleaning and insulating Essential Service Water system piping. The scaffolding will not be tied to, or directly over, any safety-related equipusnt, and will be inspected prior to consnencing work. No unreviewed safety or envirornmental questions are generated as a result of this l
temporary change.

Tauporary Modification 85-SE Installation of scaffolding in the Auxiliary Building to facilitate cleaning and insulating Essential Service Water system piping. No unreviewed safety or erwirorumental questions are generated as a result of this tamporary change.
7.
Tusporary Modification 85-SS Installation of temporary blank flanges in place of the tube side relief valve, NV-701, on the Steen Generator Blowdown Regenerative Heat Exchanger.
Overpressure protection will be provided by N V-702. No unreviewed safety or envirorumental questions are generated as a result of this temporary change.
8.
Temporary Modification 85H55 Installation of scaffolding in contairunent on elevation 2026' to facilitate repair of feedwater check valve AB-V-122. No unreviewed safety or envirorumental questions are generated as a result of this temporary change.
9.
Temporary Modification 85-68 Allow the replacement of bonnet bolts on valves AB-V-0006, suction isolatior. valve for Main Peedwater Ptamp "B", and AB-V-4009, suction isolation valve for Main Peedwater Ptamp "A", with bolts designed to allow sealant application. No unreviewed safety or-envirorumental questions are q
generated as a result of.this ' eacy dange.
- 10. Tauporary Modification 85-SB Replacanent of broken U-bolt on hanger AD06-H015/432, supporting the suction line to Main Peedwater Pump "B", with a surplus U-bolt frun hanger AD06-H014/431. No unreviewed safety or environmental questions are generated as a result of this temporary change.
- 11. Tenporary Modification 85-SE Allow the use of a rupture disc on the Hydrogen Recombiner in the Gaseous Radwaste Systen that does not have the proper pricing doctanentation on the Purchase Order. No unreviewed safety or environmental questions are generated as a result of this temporary change.
- 12. Tenporary Modification 85-SE Installation of a temporary pressure gauge to replace a failed accumulator pressure transnitter on a Main Steanline Isolation Valve. '1he failed transmitter functioned only for Control Roam irrlication, arri the temporary gauge will serve the same purpose, only with local indication. No unreviewed safety or envirorunental questions are generated as a result of this temporary change.
