DPR-54 SPECIAL REPORT NUMBER 85-09, SUPPLEMENT 1 In our July 31, 1985 report, we described our concern with the potential per-sonnel hazard created by the opening of the Nuclear Services Electrical Build-ing (NSEB) fire doors during an actuation of the cardox system, and provided our schedules for an interim and long term resolution of this concern. The interim resolution of providing a more secure latching mechanism for the exist-ing doors has been completed as scheduled; however, the long term resolution of replacing the existing NSEB doors with 3-hour fire rated doors with " panic" hardware and flush bolts is not expected to be completed until February 28, 1986. This work was originally scheduled to be completed by December 31, 1985.

The delay in implementing the long term resolution is attributed to the 6-8 weeks delivery time required for the materials and special hardware required to meet the Underwriter's Laboratory (U/L) ratings and 10 CFR 50, Appendix R requirements.
