On November 27,1985, a conference call was held with members of your staf f. As a result of this call, Carolina Power & Light Company agreed to provide additional i
information regarding Exemption 3 (ll /0 Monitor Isolation Valves)of our October 25, 2
2 1985 Appendix 3 exemption request.
The instrument lines associated with this exemption are 1/2" outside diameter lines connected to 11 /0 monitors CAC-AT-4409 and CAC-AT-4410, which are the major 3
2 components of the containment monitor system (CMS). Figure i provides a system i
diagram for the CMS. The CMS is a Class IE nuclear safety related system and as such r
is designed to operate under normal as well as LOCA and HELB conditions. The system l
provides accurate measurements of hydrogen and oxygen at containment pressures up to 30 psi ano temperatures to 445*F. The CMS is an in-line monitoring systems gases and condensables, including span gases, are returned to the containment af ter sampling.
