Inspection Report No. 50-354/85-60
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by R. A. McBrearty of
this office on November 18 - 22, 1985, at Hope Creek Generating Station, Unit 1,
Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey, of activities authorized by NRC License No. CPPR-120
and to the discussions of Our findings held by Mr. McBrearty with Mr. A. E.
Giardino of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed. However, two
apparent problems were identified'regarding the completeness of the documenta-
tion of preservice ultrasonic data evaluations by licensee and vendor personnel.

These problems and similar ones identified in Inspection Report No. 50-354/85-46
indicate that added licensee management attention is warranted to assure the
continued satisfactory implementation of the preservice inspection program.
