Dear Chairman Palladino:
As you are aware, several months ago we applied for an ex-tension of time in which to meet the equinment qualification require-ments (10 CFR 50.49) for our Brunswick Nuclear Plant. On Septenber 13 and September 17 we requested an opportunity to appear before the Co= mission to present our justification for an extension of time to do this work.
We understand, based on the Staff review with the Commission on September 17, that the Staff plans to submit an evaluation on Bruns-wick Unit No. 2 to the Commission about October 1.
We would be prepared to appear at the convenience of the Commission at any time after October 1.
We desire to do so no later than October 8 because of the magnitude and complexity of the work involved and the need now to establish appropriate work schedules.
