REQUESTS - ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION, 10:00 A.M., FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25, 1985, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, D.C. OFFICE (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)

The Commission met with staff to discuss staff recommendations on nuclear utility requests for extensions of the November 30, 1985 deadline for compliance with 10 CFR 50.49, " Environmental Qualification of Electric Equipment Important to Safety for Nuclear Power Plants."

The Commission requested that staff determine the status of environmental qualification testing of hydrogen recombiners at Palo Verde, Units 1 and 2 and determine whether, in view of recent test results, the staff wishes to modify its recommenda-tion in SECY-85-334 on granting an exemption to 10 CFR 50.49 until March 30, 1986.

Chairman Palladino requested that Commissioners, as soon as possible, provide to the Secretary their notation votes on the staff recommendations in order that licensees can be notified as to the responses to their requests.
