FEMA MOTION FOR AN EXTENSION OF TIME I.
INTRODUCTION Pursuant to 10 C.F.R.
E2.711 of the Commission's regulations, the Federal Emergency Management Agency moves the Board for an extension of time for FEMA to respond to the Interrogatories propounded by Intervenor Wells Eddleman to NRC Staff / FEMA (8th Set),
until January 16, 1985.
II.

2-Due to severe (50% +) staffing cutbacks experienced at FEMA, there are only two Emergency Management Program Specialists in Region IV.
Emergency Management Program Specialist, Thomas I.,Hawkins has primary responsibility for responding to Intervenor Eddleman's Interrogatories.
M r. H a w k i n s' c o m p e t i n g c o m m i t m e n t s a n d h o l i d a y l e a v e schedule will not enable him to complete his portion of the response to Int'e'rvenor Eddleman's Interrogatories until aid January, 1986.
Mr. Hawkips' competing commitments relate solely to FEMA support and evaluation of other fixed nuclear power plant facilities in FEMA Region IV.
In addition, FEMA's Public Information Officer had been assigned to disaster field duty in Florida and has not had an opportunity to review the Interrogatories propounded by Intervenor Eddleman.
The Public Information Officer's schedule will also prohibit FEMA from meeting the December 23, 1985 filing deadline.
In light of these conflicts, FEMA is requesting until January 16, 1986 to file its response.
Counsel for Applicants has indicated that Applicants have no objection to this motion provided that no other dates, including the deadline for filing Applicants Motion for Summary Disposition, are modified as a result of this Motion.
Mr. Eddleman has no objection.
FEMA agrees to provide responses directly to Mr. Eddleman and Applicants by Express Mail.
111.
CONCLUSION For good cause shown, FEMA requests that FEMA's time to respond to Intervenor Eddleman's Interrogatories (8th Set) be extended until January 16, 1986.
