yielded the following data:
the procedure was an attempt to extract a t'
totalflugrotihe'ofapproximately50 minutes. This was an f
gall' atone, ifficult case even for the type of procedure being performed.
^-l unusually d I
. It was est.imated that the^ subject's hand may have been in the active f\\ beam lfor as much as 75%'of'the total fluoro time. The procedure was
^l per' formed in Rm 6, Itadiology, 3N, Bldg 500.
i i
-l 2.
The RPO attempted to simulate as exactly as possible the conditions
^'
l described by subject, in order to obtain dosimetry information. Using' a fluoro phantom, the apparatus in Rm 6 was set to the techniques de-scribed by subject (68 kvP, automatic brightness control). The table i
i has an overhead fluoro *.ube; it gave an output of approximately 7.5
'I R/ min at 12 inches above tabletop (28 in source to chamber dist.ance).
i-f The exposure at the presumed location of the subject's hand, approx-l imately 6.1 R/ min.
(Differences in backscatter between the A1 phantom l
and an actual patient were not calculated).
i f
3.
The exposure to subject's hand depends, in exact proportion, upon the percentage of time that, the hand was in the active beam.
P,ased on s
the above dosimetry, an exposure up to 230 R (for 75% of total riuoro time) could have been received. This maximal value is the administra-4 tive dose which will be assigned by the RPO.
