This refers to the special safety inspection conducted by myself and members
of my staff on October 10-11, 1985, of activities at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power
Station, authorized by NRC Operating License No. NPF-3, and to the discussion
of our findings with Mr. L. Storz and others of your staff at the conclusion
of the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
No violations with NRC requirements were identified during the course of
this inspection.
We understand that you are considering the relocation of certain Technical
Support Center personnel and equipment to a space within the protected area,
and that your staff will keep us informed of the results of this relocation
feasibility study. We also understand that your staff will keep us informed
of the unrelated schedule for revising the Emergency Plan and its implementing
procedures and for completing required training on these revisions.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosures will be placed in the NRC's Public Document
Room.
