NUREG-0737, Item III.D.3.4 Control Room Habitability Pursuant to a telephone conversation of December 4, 1985, between Mr. E.
Tourigny and Mr. H. Gilpin of your staff and OPPD personnel, final resolution of the subject item was discussed.
This letter serves to verify that Stone and Webster (S & W) has perfonned an independent design verification of the doses to the control room operators resulting from direct intake through VA-65 air inlet. This verification utilized S & W's DRAGON computer code and, as described in OPPD's submittal of i
September 23, 1985, utilized the Campe and Murphy methodology, R.G.
1.111 and R.G. 1.109. S & W's calculations resulted in doses less than l
the doses in SRP Section 6.4.
This information should serve to close this issue and allow your staff to issue their SER prior to the restart of Fort Calhoun Station from the current refueling and maintenance outage.
