APR - 9 1997 NRC LICENSEES AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS An Agreement between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (Commonwealth) for the transfer to the Commonwealth of certain of the Commission's regulatory authority over byproduct, source and special nuclear materials became effective on March 21,1997. Copies of the Agreement and of Part 150 cf the Commission's regulations, which describe the scope of the transferred authority, are available upon request.
NRC licensees located in the Commonwealth have been transferred to the Commonwealth, which will recognize the license as a Commonwealth license until the expiration date specified, or until a new license has been issued by the Commonwealth, if you plan to transfer materials to licensed users in the Commonwealth, you should be aware of this change.
NRC licensees located outside of the Commonwealth which are authorized to use radioactive materials within the Commonwealth should contact the Commonwealth authority (below) for information regarding licensed activities in the Commonwealth af'ter March 21,1997, under reciprocity.
J Federal Government agencies operating in the Commonwealth will remain under NRC jurisdiction.
All communications with the Commonwealth on this matter should be addressed to:
