Ms. Cindee Virostek 409 N. 8th Street Apollo, PA 15613

Dear Mr. Kammerer:

I write in reference to the above-named individual, who contacted my office and requested assistance in preventing the Babcock and Wilcox Company from starting a radioactive incineration operation near her home.

I am forwarding to your attention a copy of her letter of June 10 along with a related news article.

It would be greatly appreciated if you would look into this situation and respond to my Lansdowne District Office, 55 N.

Lansdowne Ave., Lansdowne, PA 19050, with the results of your findings.

I would especially like to know what action the Nuclear Regulatory Commission took to review the alleged practice of incinerating contaminated nuclear waste, and what efforts are being taken to regulate planned activities by the Babcock and Wilcox Co. in the future? Who should Ms. Virostek contact on a federal level for assistance in answering her specific complaints? Can the Nuclear Regulatory Commission refer her to the proper channels for resulta?

Thanking you in advance for your kind assistance with this matter, and eagerly awaiting your response, I remain, Cordially, J

Dear Bob Edgar,

Please help us stop Babcock & Wilcox from bringing any kind of Nuclear business into our Valley (Apollo & Parks Twp. )

I have letters dating back to 1967 from a DER file, of people complaining about fallout on their steps, and damaged vegetation.

I also have a document that tells of R&M 's

( film CC ),

incinerator in Apollo (1964). They have been incinerating flich Enriched Uranium contaminated solid waste. This went on unETI'~1984. Do you r'6aTEe"tWi's plant is right in the middle of town?

Someone had better soon wake up and realize that the people in this valley have been exposed to radioactive emissions f rom three different sources within a 5 mile radius.

1. Apollo Plant Ricki Valley Water Pollution Control Authority 2.
3. Parks Twp. Plant The adverse effects from these plants are just now beginning to surface. We have not even begun to experience the full impact of past releases.

Please help us.
