t NOTICE OF DEVIATION Louisiana Power & Light Company Docket: 50-382/85-26 Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3 License: NPF-38 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted during the period of October 7-11, 1985, it appears that one of your activities was not conducted in conformance with your commitments to the Commission. Based on the results of the inspection and in accordance with the " General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C (1985), the following deviation was identified:

a The Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) for Waterford 3, Sections 11.4.6,

" Storage Facilities," 11.4.7, " Interim Solid Waste Storage," and 11.4.8,

" Interim Dry Compacted Waste Facility," identifies three specific areas where low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) will be temporarily stored.

In deviation from the above, the NRC. inspectors determined on October 10, 1985, that the licensee had approximately 111 containers of '

LLRW stored in 4 areas not referenced in the FSAR. (382/8526-01) g Louisiana Power & Light Company is hereby requested to submit to this office, within 30 days of the date of the letter transmitting this Notice of Deviation, a written statement or explanation in reply, including: (1) the reason for the deviation if_ admitted, (2) the corrective steps which have been taken and the J results achieved, (3) the corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further '

deviations, and (4) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
