ACRS REPORT ON PROTECTION AGAINST CRITICALITY DURING iMI-2 DEFUELING During its 310th meeting, February 13-15, 1986, the Advisory Comittee on Reactor Safeguards met with representatives of GPU Nuclear and the NRC Staff to review studies done by GPU Nuclear and procedures proposed to protect against criticality during the defueling of the TMI-2 core.
The Core Perfomance Subcommittee had previously reviewed this matter during their meeting on January 29, 1986.
We conclude that appropriate studies have been performed and that the procedures being followed will provide the necessary protection against criticality during defueling.
