Dear Mr. Jenkins:

This is to confirm the NPDES permit exception at our Surry Power Station that was reported to you on September 9, 1985.

On September 7, 1985 at 2:00 p.m. the chlorine residual at out-fall 011, the sewage treatment plant, was measured as 2.57 mg/1.

The following sample of this effluent, taken at 10:00 a.m. on September 8, 1985, was measured as 2.59 mg/1. These results ex-ceed the limitations of the range of 0.5 mg/l through 2.5 mg/1.

for any two consecutive tests.

Results for the next sample, taken on the afternoon of September 8, 1985, were within the range limits, and subsequent test re-sults were also within limitations. Therefore, no corrective action is planned at this time.
