R2552, 85FNFIB330 Subjects Field Inspection Of (7) Fire Door Frames Installed At The Palo Verde Power Plant
Dear Sir,
Please be advised that on October 5 and 6, 1985 our Inspector visited the above location for the purpose of making a field inspection on fire door frames manufactured by the Fencstra Corporation of Erie, Pennsylvania.
Our Inspector revealed that the subject products complied with our requirements and our Listing Marks were allowed to be
' applied to the products.
also noted several field alterations made to Our Inspector the frames by the Bechtel Construction under the orders of the Palo Verde Security Staff.
The field alterations that were performed are not authorized por UL specifications but based on the fact that the frames complied with UL require-ments when they left the manufacturer, the frames were allowed.

The alterations which took place are outlined below.
1.
Field installed 1-1/2 in, metal conduit closure in the hallway face of the strike jamb.
2.
Field installation of a Listed magnetic coil manu-factured by Flair Electric, Inc. which was installed by means of a 1-1/4 in diameter plastic button in one rabbot of the header.
These alterations are of a particular fire protection concern as the possibility exists that should the frame be exposed to a fire condition, the unauthorized alterations may provide a means for flame penetration into the wall assembly.
