l The Quality Assurance Branch has recently completed its review of Amendment 55 to the Comanche Peak FSAR. 'The staff finds that the FSAR acceptably responds to our earlier request for additional information concerning Chapter 17 which was enclosed with our letter dated January 7,1985. However, the Quality l
Assurance Branch requests additional information concerning revisions made to t
the FSAR by Amendments 54 and 55. See the enclosed request for additional information.
Please advise my staff when we may expect a response and/or a conft,rming amendment to the FSAR. My staff will also arrange a conference call with the j

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CPSES-FSAR Amendmer ts 54 and 55 1.
FSAR amendment 55 added the following items to Sheet 21 of Table 17A-1,
" List of Quality Assured Structures, Systems, and Components" under Item 22, " Containment Ventilation Systems."

Containment purge supply and exhaust ductwork and supports dampers and supports containment isolation valves and piping g.
Containment pressure relief ductwork and supports containment isolation valves and piping suction pipe debris screen This is acceptable except that the suction pipe and debris screen do not show a note under the column headed " Quality Assurance" which indicates that these items will be subject to the pertinent provisions of the 10 CFR 50 appendix B QA program during the operations phase. Add such a note (i.e., A, B, or C) to these items or justify not doing so.

FSAR amendment 54 revised the commitment to Regulatory Guide 1.144 [page 1 A(B) -59] to say that TUGC0 "has elected to adopt, as an alternative commitment to the above referenced ANSI standard, the guidance....
To avoid misinterpreting what is intended, the commitment should be revised to say that TUGC0 "has elected to adopt, as an alternative commitment to the external audit schedule requirements of the above referenced ANSI standard, the guidance...." So revise the commitment or justify not doing so.
