CONFIRMATION OF MEETING
-DOCKET NOS. 50-338, 50-339, 50-280, AND 50-281 This letter refers to the telephone conversation on February 12, 1986, between Ms. Nancy C. Clark of your staff and Mr. Virgil L. Brownlee of this office concerning a management meeting to be conducted at the Region II Office on March 3, 1986, at 10:00 a.m. (EST). We requested this conference to discuss the results of recent reactor operator requalification examinations at Surry and North Anna and corrective actions which will be implemented to assure continuing operator competence.
Our examination reports dated January 31 and February 4,1986, forwarded ~ the results of our examinations and concluded that your requalification program is marginally acceptable.
The purpose o'l our requalification examinations is to access the adequacy of your requalification training program. The NRC considers that the marginal performance of the operators is due to deficiencies in your training program.
Please regard this a the central issue for discussion at our meeting.
Should you have any questions regarding these arrangements, we will be pleased to discuss them.
