Your letter 4410-85-L-0176 dated October 14, 1985 to Dr. Thomas E. Murley, Region I, Regional Administrator, USNRC We have received your referenced letter that transmitted Revision 4-00 to the subject Recovery Quality Assurance Plan. This Revision contained 101 changes principally brought about by organizational changes and program clarifications.
One major change was to increase the certification intervals for Level III NDE Examiners and Level III NDE personnel from three years to five years. This was identified in Appendix C, as a clarification for the compliance to Regulatory Guide 1.58, Revision 1, September 1980. This change is consistent with the ASME Code Cases N-341 and N-356. The NRC acceptance of.these code cases for TMI-2 use was granted in a letter dated January 16, 1985, from Mr. John F.

Region I staff has reviewed the changes and found them acceptable as they did not reduce the NRC accepted commitments in your Recovery Quality Assurance Plan.
