Dear Mr. Andrews:

The Comission has completed the review of your November 4,1983 responses to Generic Letter 83-28 Items 3.1.1 and 3.1.2, Post-Maintenance Testing (Reactor Trip System Components). Item 3.1.1 deals with review of test and.

maintenance procedures and Technical Specifications. Item 3.1.2 deals with a review of vendor and engineering recommendations. In regard to Item 3.1.1, you stated that plant raintenance procedures contain provisions to test that portion of the reactor trip system on which the maintenance was performed prior to returning it to service, and the testing demonstrates that the component can perform its required function. This is acceptable. In regard to Item 3.1.2, you stated that due to vendor and engineering recomendations, ,

two new procedures and a surveillance test have been implemented. In addition, maintenance procedures have been developed to include the manufacturer's recommendations for preventative maintenance on components in the reactor protection system. This is also acceptable. ,

Based on the above, we ccnclude that your responses to the GL 83-28 Items'

! 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 are acceptable, and we consider our review for these two items l complete.
