Subject:
Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 Follow-up Report, Inoperable Fire Doors - December 1985 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3
Reference:
Letter, H. E. Morgan (SCE) to J. B. Martin (NRC),
dated December 12, 1985 i
In accordance with our referenced letter, this submittal provides the follow-up report of fire-rated assemblies (specifically fire doors) found inoperable during routine surveillances in December 1985.
Fire doors found inoperable during the December routine surveillances are identified in the Attachment and include 8 latching mechanism failures and 7 closure mechanism failures. No doors were found blocked open in December.
As each of these deficiencies was identified, compensatory fire watches, pursuant to Technical Specification 3.7.9, Action Statement 'a', were established. We are continuing previously reported corrective actions to upgrade door latches and closure mechanisms.
