Inadequate Spacing Between Cells and Battery Rack (CDR 85-00-09)
Dear Sir:
References (c) and (d) reported a 10CFR50.55(e) deficiency based on Reference (b) regarding the safety-related batteries at Seabrook which were manufactured by GNB Batteries Inc.
This deficiency involved inadequate spacing between the battery cells and the rack which could have caused the battery to be degraded during a seismic event.
Reference (d) committed to a corrective action of adding cell spat es and moving the rack stringers to obtain acceptable spacing and documentation revisitn to show correct cell spacing.
This corrective action has been completed.
Since this completes the corrective action, we consider this the final report on this 10CFR50.55(c) deficiency.
