This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by K. R. Ridgway of this
office on November 20-22, 1985, of activii.ies at the University of Michigan
Ford Nuclear Reactor authorized by NRC Operating License No. R-28 and to the
discussion of our findings with Messrs. Burn and Cook at the conclusion of the
inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
During this inspectica, certain of your activities appeared to be in
violation with NRC requirements, as specified in the enclosed Appendix.
A written response is required.
In accordance with the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the
enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
