FROM: Commissioner Diaz .

SUBJECT:

COMSECY-96-064 - INTERNATIONAL ACTIVI flES  :

(DSI-20) i I support Option 4, i.e., to continue to perform our current and prospective role in treaty implementation and actively participating in international activities that benefit NRC's domestic safety and security responsibilities or U.S. national interests. Staff should develop evaluation criteria for activities that could be  !

considered discretionary. A list of priority activities should be maintained and provided to the Commission so that it can provide guidance when budgetary l concerns warrant sunsetting certain activities. '

I also agree with the two modifications proposed by Commissioner Rogers.
