Gentlemen:
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. C. Ramsey of
this office on November 18-22, December 9-12, 1985, and January 10, 1986,
of activities at Byron Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 authorized by Facility
Operating License No. NPF-23 and Construction Permit No. CPPR-130 and to the
discussion of our findings with Mr. R. Ward at the conclusion of the
inspection.
The encl 6 sed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection. However, a written response is requested to the items identified
in Paragraph 3.a within 30 days of your receipt of this letter.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Comission's regulations, a copy of
this letter, the enclosures, and your response to this letter will be placed
in the NRC Public Document Room.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
