Dear Mr. Denton:

At the requested of the NRC Staff, d mechanical equipment for the Duke Power conducted a review of seismically qualified electrical an purpose of identifying any differences between Catawba Units 1 and 2.

The results of the review were:

1.

No differences were identified in the mechanical equipment area.

2.

Differences in electrical equipment are identified in the attached table.

This table also includes modif'ications to Catawba Unit 1.

3.

Section 3.10 of the Catawba FSAR will be revised in Revision 14 to reflect these differences and modifications.

Based on this review, it is our conclusion that appropriate equipment utilized in Catawba Units 1 and 2 is capable of performing its design safety-related function in the event oI an eartnquake.
