WATERFORD 3 PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PLAN (FOCUS)

I This refers to the meeting conducted in the Region IV office on March 24,1997. This j meeting related to a discussion presented to NRC Region IV personnel on continuing efforts to improve overall performance at Waterford 3. The presentation focused on the current plan for improvement and an overview of strategies to identify and correct performance issues. The presentation also discussed design basis performance, procedure adherence, untimely corrective actions, safety culture, root causes, and the transition to a new plan for continuous improvement called "True North Strategies."

We appreciated your update on the status of your current performance improvement plan and the introduction to your new plan for continuous improvement.

We are looking forward to the agreed upon bimonthly update meetings on your efforts to j improve performance. For future performance improvement meetings, it is our intent that the locations will alternate between Region IV and Waterford 3.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC's Public Document  !
