Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs L. D. Gilbert and W. M. McNeill

of this office during the period April 15-June 27, 1985, of activities

-

authorized by NRC Construction Permit CPPR-145 for River Bend Unit 1, and to the

discussion of our findings with R. B. Stafford and other members of yo'ur staff

at the conclusion of the i.nspection.

Areas examined during the inspection included safety-related pipe supports and

verification ~of as-builts for piping systems.

Within these areas, the

inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative

records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspectors.

These

findings are documented in the enclosed inspection report.

During this inspection, it was found that certain activities under your license

appeared to be in violation of NRC requirements.

The violation reported in

paragraph 3.b of the enclosed inspection. report was forwarded to you by our

'

letter and Notice of Violation, dated July 12, 1985; therefore, this letter

'does not require further written response.

Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased

to discuss them with you.
