Dear Mr. Hutchinson:
In a telephone conversation on March 18,1997, Mr. T. O. McKemon and Mr. R. Byford l
made arrangements for the NRC to inspect the licensed operator requalification program at I
the Arkansas Nuclear One facility. The inspection is planned for the week of July 28,1997, which coincides with your regularly scheduled requalification examination cycle for both Units 1 and 2. The staff at your facility should prepare and conduct the re_ qualification examinations in accordance with your NRC-approved requalification l
program.

I In accordance with 10 CFR 55.59(c), the NRC may request facility licensees to submit their comprehensive requalification written examinations or annual operating tests as
.i necessary to support the NRC's inspection program needs. In order for the NRC to adequately prepare for this inspection, please furnish the operating tests scheduled for the week of the inspection to the NRC by June 23,1997. _ Mr. Byford has been advised of this request and provided with the name and address of the NRC lead inspector assigned to this inspection.
This request for requalification examination materialis covered by the Office of Management and Budget Clearance Number 3150-0101, which expires on October 31,1998.
