On June' 16,1982, the NRC issued NPF-13 to your Company authorizing the

' operatica of Grand Gulf Unit No. I at 5%. As required by_10 CFR 170.21 of the March 23, 1978 regulations, an operating license fee of $1,024.500

was paid by you upon issuance of the initial license. The license was amended on August 31, 1984, to authorize full power (100%) operation. In i accordance with Footnote 3 of Section 170.21, the costs incurred in the '

processing and issuance of the operating license (i.e., full power . license)  ;

have been reviewed and they substantially exceed the maximum fee of $1,024,500 j l

prescribed by the Cossiission's regulations. Since the maximia fee required by i i

10 CFR 170 has been paid, no additional operating license fee is required for Grand Gulf Unit No.1.  !

4 On February 15, 1985, the Commission issued Bill No. 00192 in the amount of

$1,032,937 for professional staff review time through June 23, 1984, and contractual support costs through May 31, 1984, expended in the operating license review of Grand Gulf Unit No. 2. In the NRC internal verification i i

i- of costs it was found that certain review costs associated with Grand Gulf '

Unit No. 1, costing $307,594 were charged to Grand Gulf Unit No. 2 when

! they should have been charged to Grand Gulf Unit No. 1. Accordingly a new bill has been issued for Unit 2. It is for $725,343 and replaces Bill i

No. D0192. The payment due date has been extended 15 days from the date shown_on the enclosed bill. This debt owed the Government should be paid before the due date expires to avoid interest charges. If it is not paid

' on or before the due date. interest from the date of the original bill becomes due and payable, .
