a APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Boston Edison Company Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Docket No. 50-293 License No. OPR-35 As a result of the inspection conducted on November 17-22, 1985, and in accor-dance with the NRC Enforcement Policy (10 CFR 2, Appendix C), the following violation was identified:

Technical Specification 4.8 c.10 requires, in part, that each waste gas monitor have an instrument channel test at least monthly.

Contrary to the above, as of November 22, 1985, instrument channel tests were not being performed monthly for the Reactor Building Vent and the Stack Waste Gas Monitors. The tests were performed every six months.

This is a Severity Level V violation Supplement IV.

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Boston Edison Company is hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of the letter which transmitted this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including: (1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending this response time.

INFORMATION AND IS NOT FOR PUBLIC DISCLOSURE. IT IS INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK.

Contrary to the above, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on November 17, 1985, a plant employee caaried a large handbag into the Protected Area and the bag was not authorized and/or searched.

This is a Severity Level IV violation. (Supplement III)
