SUBJECT:

CARBON ADSORBERS IN AUXILI,ARY BUILDING U-2, "B" TRAIN On 4/22, I discussed with L. Kovach the events of 4/21 when the U-2 "B" Auxiliary Building charcoal adsorbers were wetted when the,' deluge valve was opened.

Kovach has recommended that the trays be removed from the system in the next 4-5 days and that the carbon be removed from the trays.

Because of the low phi 5.5, he recommends tte t the trays.

be dropped in 1% ootassium nitrate, reused with water and air dried to prevent corrosio,n of the stainless steel trays.
