0FFICE OF INVESTIGATIONS (01) INVESTIGATION OF COUNTERFEIT ELECTRONIC PARTS (CASE N0. 2-90-014)
The recent 20-count Federal indictment of a vendor charged with selling counterfeit electronic parts to commercial nuclear reactor licensees and the United States Navy is worthy of recognition. It is my understanding that !
l OI:Rll Investigators Claxton and Williamson gained access,to Stokley Enterprises, Inc., and through careful and extensive records review, discovered-critical documents that provided the impetus to continue pursuing this important investigation. It is also my understanding that Investigator Tate's computer search of transaction records and review of procurement documents for certificates of compliance led to the discovery that the United States Navy had purchased many electronic components from this same vendor. I have also l
been informed that Mr. Claxton worked very closely with the Naval Investigative Service and other Department of Defense investigative agencies, providing the necessary information and assistance required for the filing of criminal charges in this matter.
Investigators Claxton, Williamson, and Tate demonstrated their professional l skill and acumen in bringing this vendor to justice and protecting public health and safety. These individuals are to be commended for a job well done!
