THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OFAMEIUCA WASHINGTON D.C. 20064 SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND ARCHITEC1URE, OFFICE OF THE DEAN 202 035-5160 September- 23, 1985 Mr. Herbert M. Berkow, Section Leader Special Project Section Standardization & Special Projects Branch Division of Licensing Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555

Dear Herb:

I received a copy of John Dosa's summary of our meeting on September 4th.

In his final paragraph he states "CUA agreed to submit an application for possession-only ammendment within 60 days after the meeting, and to decide within several weeks whether decommissioning would be pursued in conjunction with the '

possession-only ammendment."

In fact, we did not make that commitment at the meeting and we are still trying to determine if we want to apply directly for decommissioning without going through the possession-only status. In any case, we will be in touch with you as soon as we have decided on our course of action.

S erely you . ,
