Subject: Combined Inspection Report Nos. 50-277/85-28; 50-278/85-26
A special team inspection of your radiation protection and chemistry programs
was conducted on July 22 - 26, 1985, at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station,
Delta, Pennsylvania. Our findings were discussed with Mr. R. Fleischmann at
the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas of the radiation protection and chemistry programs examined during this
inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report which is
enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of
selective examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with
personnel and measurements and observations made by the inspectors.
We have reviewed the actions taken to correct the violations brought to your
attention in the enclosures to our letters, dated August 3, 1984, November 6,
1984, January 29, 1985 and May 30, 1985. The corrective actions stated in your
letters dated August 31, 1984, December 4,1984, February 28, 1985 and June 7,
1985, appear to be adequate to prevent recurrence.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed. However,
several areas of apparent weakness in your radiation protection and chemistry
programs are discussed in the report and should be addressed in your management
program.
No reply to this letter is required. Your cooperation with us in this matter
is appreciated.
