Statement of Concerns Industrial Safety Matters

1. A concern was raised that an accident involving the loss of some fingers of a female employee in the Fuel Manufacturing operation (FMO) in 1982 was not reported to the OSHA. The accident occurred while the employee was working with _ uranium pellets on a grinding wheel. The alleger stated that the reason GE did not report _the accident was because GE allegedly wanted to keep NRC/ OSHA off the site as much as possible.
2. The alleger stated _that Joann Wilson was contaminated in 1982 or early 1983 while' working in a controlled area. The alleger stated that this woman also had her finger cut off and is still working at the plant. The accident occurred while Wilson was grinding some pellets on a grinding machine. The alleger is concerned that the incident was not reported to OSHA and that the accident was not reported in Wilson's medical records at the plant. (The NRC is investigating this- alleged incident with respect to the contamina-tion.
