Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 Bulletin 80-08 By letter dated July 7, 1980, a response to the subject Bulletin was forwarded. A comnitment was made in the attachment to that letter to provide weld examination information for three containment liner penetration welds whose original construction inspection records could not be located at that time. Further efforts to locate those records were unsuccessful.

Radiographic examination of the three welds was scheduled to occur during the Cycle 10 refueling outage; however, the physical configuration of the penetrations precluded a meaningful examination. The three welds are shop welds which were required to be radiographed by the piping installation specification and the 1965 ASME Code Section III, prior to installation. As radiographic examination was specified for all applicable containment liner penetration welds, backing bars were not used and ultrasonic examination was not employed, the specific concerns of the Bulletin are not applicable to the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station.
