NRC and DOE should. jointly hold public meetings regarding technical and policy issues, as appropriate, to ensure that the public is made aware of its review activities early on in the evaluation process.
The staff should ensure that DOE follows up on the legislative activities needed to resolve the policy issue regarding the separation of civilian facilities from military purposes, as well as to ensure that NRC has legal authority within its charter to authorize plant operation for the production of tritiuns, both during the LTA demonstration as well as during normal production operation, k
