Notice of Program Closure Generic Letter 89-10 Motor Operated Valve Testing Gentlemen:
The purpose of this letter is to notify the NRC that Catawba Nuclear Station has completed the requirements of Generic Letter 89-10.
This includes all initial testing and validation efforts to verify the capability of safety-related Motor Operated Valves (MOV) to perform their safety function and/or to operate under design basis conditions.
As part of our continuing program to monitor MOV valve performance, additional actions will be taken.
These include additional differential pressure testing to be performed in 2EOC8 for gate valve group BW-01, to increase the data base; for gate valve group WL-01, two valves will be replaced in 2EOC8; and, two valves for gate valve group AD-04 will have torque switch adjustments made in the next two outages respectively.
