Inspection of Exxon Nuclear Company
This refers to a routine safety inspection conducted by Messrs. B. L. Brock
and J. F. Pang of this office on July 29, 1985 to August 2, 1985 of activities
authorized by NRC License Number SNM-1227 and to the discussion of the
findings held with you and members of the staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
The violation for which you have been cited has already been the subject of an
enforcement action by the State of Washington.
In view of this we have
exercised our discretion under the NRC Enforcement Policy (10 CFR Part 2
Appendix C), and have chosen to limit our enforcement action to the enclosed
Item A described in the attached Notice of Violation,
involving the transportation of radioactive waste, is classified as a Severity
Level IV violation after careful consideration of the factors involved in this
specific instance.
Your response to,this Notice is to be submitted in accordance with the
provisions of 10 CFR 2.201 as stated in Appendix A. Notice of Violation.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the encionure
will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
