Waterford SES Unit No. 3 Monthly Management Report for October, 1984 Under " Performance Monitoring - Management j

Information Program".

Attached is a copy of the October, 1984 Management Report for Waterford 3 for your information. This is the eighth monthly Management Report under 5 the " Performance Monitoring - Management Information" program at Waterford 3.

The number of station modifications remaining open increased to 438 from 412 from the month of August. The report contains the data on the number of station modifications in various stages of the station modification g process.

Updating of the original construction drawings, which were being tracked by the Project Engineering Group, is now complete. LP&L, via letter no.

a W3P84-2176 (dated August 27, 1984), has requested Ebasco to provide (a)

As-built drawings for some support / restraint types and (b) Redlined blue prints for large and small bore piping isometric drawings.

Net of 4 vacant positions were filled in the Quality Assurance Group in the month of September, 1984. Staffing level in the Nuclear Safety Group g remained at 10 during.the month of September, 1984 against the 16 g authorized positions for the Nuclear Safety Group. One Control Room Supervisor and one Reactor Operator, both key employees, lef t the LP&L m Nuclear Operations Organization during the month of September, 1984.

4 The Chemistry out-of-specification hours (Graphs 29A, 29B & 29C) were reported to be zero during the period of 16 August thru 15 September, 1984.

_ There was a sharp decrease in the number of Critical Licensing Commitments remaining open, during the month of September, 1984. As anticipated, the

.. decrease is attributable to the closure of the CAT Audit related licensing

commitments.

REPORT-HIGHLIGHTS I 1. Temporary Modification Status (Graph 12):

The number of temporary modifications increased f rom 34 to 89 in the month of September, 1984. The increase is mainly due to the temporary modifications involving the repairs of Hydro Motors.

I 2. Station Modification Requests (SMRs) Status (Graph 13): The number of station modifications remaining open has increased to 438 from 412 for the month of August, 1984. The number of station modifications in the I various stages of processing are as follows:

a) 133 Station Modifications Requests With the Originators 131 Station Modifications in Preparation & Review Stage 36 Station Modifications awaiting Management Approval 29 Station Modifications in the Field Implementation Stage 71 Station Modifications already implemented in the field and under closure 38 Station Modifications not requiring physical changes j

3. Drawing Up-Date Status (Graph 14):

Updating of the as-built original construction drawings, which were being tracked by the Project Engineering Group, is now complete.

However, Ebasco has been requested to provide the as-built reproducible drawings for some support / restraint types, both safety and non-safety. Ebasco has been requested to provide legible, verified and checked redlined blue prints for large and small bore j I piping isometric drawings also.

4. Staffing Status and Forecast for Key Positions (Graph 18).

Net of 4 vacant positions were filled in the Quality Assurance Group.

Staffing level in the Nuclear Safety Group remained at 10 during the month of September, 1984 against the 16 authorized positions.

I 5. Turnover Rate for Key Positions (Graph 19):

2 key employees in the month of September, 1984 and I key employee in the month of August, 1984 left the LP&L Nuclear Operations organization. Graph 19 has been revised accordingly.

I 6. Chemistry Out-Of-Specification (Graphs 29A, 29B & 29C):

The Chemistry out-of-specifications hours were reported to be zero ,

j during the period of August 16, 1984 thru September 15, 1984.

7. Status of Licensing Commitments (Graph 32):
