Station received a FAX of a letter from the NRC requesting a 4

technical review of a draft revision to Information Notice j

l 91-85.

This Information Notice revision discusses the j

failure of a thermostatic valve for the diesel generator jacket cooling water.

This failure occurred at the Catawba i

Nuclear Station, Unit 2 on September 10, 1991.

j The draft Information Notice 91-85, Revision 1 has been j

reviewed for technical accuracy and the following comments 1

are provided:

Page 3 of 3 change "1-2 years" to "15 years".

The information from the vendor states the shelf life of the j

element is 15 years.

Page 3 of 3 change "6-10 years" to "5 years".

The information from the vendor states that normal service life is 5 years.
