Docket Nos. 50-338 and 50-339 OLA-1

Dear Judge Wolfe:

This is a further report on the progress the Licensee has made in implementing its interim spent fuel storage plan.

1. The seventh shipment of Surry spent nuclear fuel (three assemblies apiece) was received at the Federal facility in Idaho on August 27 and loaded into the GNS cask there. Thus, the GNS cask has been filled to its maximum capacity (21 assemblies).
2. The second dry storage cask scheduled for use at the Idaho facility -- to be provided by Transnuclear, Inc. -- was scheduled to leave Kobe, Japan on Auguct 28.

The Licensee estimates that it will arrive at the Federal facility in Idaho during the first half of October and t that shipnents of Surry fuel for storage in that cask will begin in late October.

1

3. The Licencee estimates that construction work j at the dry cask facility at Surry is 22% complete.
