Unit 2
. Narrative Summary of Operations L
October 1996 i
l The unit was taken offline at 0001 on October 12,1996, for the elevrath refueling outage. In response to NRC Bulletin 96-01 " Control Rod Insertior Problems",
the unit was manually tripped from 2% reactor power and all roh inserted.
1 The following major safety related maintenance was perfonv.ed during the month:
- 1. Eighteen month PM's were performed on the 2B diesel generator. This included i
replacing the tube bundles for the intercooler, jacket water and lube oil heat exchangers.
{
i
- 2. The 2A RHR loop suction relief valve was rebuilt after failing to completely rescat during a pressure transient that occurred after shutdown.
L The following maintenance was associated with outage activities:
l
- 1. The reactor was defueled. Visual inspection of the fuel was performed during l
the offload. Fuel oxide thickness measurements were performed as was control rod drag testing.
i
- 2. The 10 year inspection of the 2C reactor coolant pump was commenced which i
included a stator replacement.
l
- 3. Performed pressure pulse and sludge lance of secondary of steam generators and i
l began 100% eddy current testing of steam generator tubes.
l
- 4. Modification to autosequence the 2D service air compressor onto the A train diesel generator during LOSP, LOSP/SI and Station Blackout events, j
- 5. Replaced the 2A and 23 RHR pump impellers to increase the pump performance margin at the runout end.
