Compatibility CO Regs - Licensing and Radiation Safety Requirements for Irradiators -Reply I think that solution is fine. The SOC for the final rule (58FR7715) did discuss the issue of sources for seismic requirements under the discussion of section 38.39. It states: "the intent of the final rule is that shield walls in seismic areas would have to retain their integrity in the event of an earthquake by requiring that they be designed to the seismic requirments of local building codes or other appropriate sources.
If local building codes do not contain seismic requirements, other appropriate sources could include: ACI 318-89." We did publish a draft reg guide for irradiators (DG-0003) in January 1994 which discusses this isst:e further.
