Additional building found contaminated in Burbank, CA ,

To update the message that Cathy Haney sent yesterday, I spoke with Frank Wenslaski of i WCFO today. Dean Chaney found low level contamination at a second building formerly used by isotopes Specialties. Since isotopes Specialties left it, it has been a milk processing plant
and a resin manufacturing facility. Chaney found fairly widespread contamination outside the building ranging from 10-40 microR/hr where the background is 5. The area of highest l contamination is around a downspout so he's trying to find a ladder to get up to the roof. Inside the building, there are numerous areas of elevated activity, the worst apparently being a small area of alpha contamination reading 3000 cpm.

4 i Jack Hornor, the SAO, called the State and they've sent an inspector to join Chaney to survey both buildings today. The State was apparenently noncommittal about taking regulatory

authority for the sites. They were closed out by AEC. WCFO is waiting to issue a PN until they
have better information.
