ENCLOSURE 2 WASTE MANAGEMENT At present the Project's waste management activities are performed by four separate groups located within three separate departments (Site Operations, Recovery Programs, and Technical Planning). These three groups will be combined into one integrated waste management group within the Site Operations Department. This group will be responsible for all waste management activities within the Project.

More specifically, this group will plan, schedule, perform, evaluate, and report the results of waste management activities. It will also conduct all necessary training of waste management personnel and interface appropriately with other groups to ensure effective communications concerning these activities.

DECONTAMINATION At present the Project's decontamination activities are performed by three separate groups located within two separate departments (Technical Planning and Recovery Programs). These three groups will be combined into one integrated decontamination group within the Recovery Programs Department.

This group will be responsible for all decontamination activities within the Project.

More specifically, this group will plan, schedule, perform, evaluate, and report the results of decontamination activities. It will also conduct all necessary training of decontamination workers and develop appropriate techniques and equipment for performance of its work. This group will interface appropriately with other groups to ensure effective communications concerning decontamination activities.

RECOVERY PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT The Recovery Programs Department will be restructured as follows:

1.

The new, integrated Decontamination group will become a section-level activity reporting directly to the Manager, Recovery Programs Department.

2.

The Recovery Operations group will be renamed the Recovery Systems and Support group.

3.

The Reactor Disassembly and Defueling Planning Section currently in the Technical Planning Department will transfer into the Site Engineering Section of the Recovery Programs Department.

PROJECT PLANNING AND ANALYSIS DEPARTMENT With the transfer of the Waste Management and Decontamination Planning functions from Technical Planning to other Project departments, it is considered organizationally effective to combine the remaining planning and data analysis roles with the Government and Industry Programs Department to form a single department reporting to the Office of the Director for TMI-2.
